Leaders

Rob Weston
Group Lead Volunteer

Rob was a Scout at the 1st Plymstock/Oreston Scout Group, when he went to university in London he joined the 73rd Penge & Beckenham Scout Group as an Assistant Cub Scout Leader for a couple of years. Then he moved to the role of Cub Scout Leader for the 10th Wembley Scout Group. After a break of several years, he returned as a Beaver Scout Leader at 73rd Reading (Park) Scout Group. Having moved to Devon, Rob joined the 1st Lifton Scout Group in 2018 and has served as Group Scout Leader since 2020. Rob enjoys swimming, camping and dinghy sailing. He received his 25 years service award in 2023.

Natasha Hulme
Squirrel Scout Lead Volunteer

Joined to assist the Scout section in March 2022. Successfully launched our Squirrel Section in November 2022. Natasha has enabled the Squirrel section to grow and develop.

Caroline Moulds
Squirrel Scout Team Member

Joined the Scout Group in May 2022 to support the setting up of a Squirrel Section in 2023. Having previously been a Beaver Scout leader, Caroline was ready for the challenge of setting up and establishing our Squirrel section.

Anna Dymond
Beaver Scout Lead Volunteer

Anna has a great deal of experience with the Beaver Scout age group and has been in leadership roles at 1st Lifton Scout Group for many years.

Anna served as the Group Scout Leader from 2015 until 2020. She received her 10 years service award in 2021.

Ruth Dymond
Beaver Scout Team Member

Ruth has a great deal of experience with the Beaver Scout age group and has been in various leadership roles at 1st Lifton Scout Group for many years. She received her 10 years service award in 2020.

Mel Weldon
Beaver Scout Team Member

Mel was a Girl Guide with the 3rd Tavistock Group and then went on to be a Young Leader. Both her son and daughter joined 1st Lifton Beaver Scouts which they both enjoyed. Mel volunteered to help out over a few sessions as a parent, then in 2013 joined as a Beaver Section Assistant which she has thoroughly enjoyed. Mel’s hobbies are reading, learning new things and having fun. She received her 5 years service award in 2018 and 10 years service award in 2023.

Karen Sandercock
Beaver Scout Team Member

Joined the Scout Group in October 2022 to support the Lifton Beaver Colony.

Laura Thompson
Beaver Scout Team Member

Joined the Scout Group in 2023 to support the Liftondown Beaver Colony.

Izzy Voaden
Beaver Scout Team Member

Izzy has been with 1st Lifton since she was a Beaver. Having achieved the Gold Chief Scout’s Award, she began helping at Beavers as a Young Leader. In 2025 Izzy joined as an adult volunteer, though away for some of the year at  University.

Sandie Gumbrell
Cub Scout Lead Volunteer

Sandie first started out just helping on Scout camps doing the cooking, then in 2009 when her daughter joined Beavers and a leader left Sandie became a Section Assistant. She enjoyed helping out and moved up to an Assistant Beaver Scout Leader for 2 years gaining experience before moving to Assistant Cub Scout Leader and then Cub Scout Leader in 2014. Sandie enjoys camping and being outdoors with her sledge dogs. She received her 10 years service award in 2022. In 2024 Sandie received the Award of Merit for her service as a leader.

Mark Guy
Cub Scout Team Member

Mark joined the Cub Scout section at 1st Lifton Sea Scouts after transferring from 1st Launceston Scout Group in 2020. Mark has previously been a Scout Leader in Worcestershire as well as an Army Cadet Instructor for over 15 years. In addition to helping out at 1st Lifton, Mark also helps to run a local youth group for 8 – 16 year olds. When Mark is not volunteering he works in the ‘energy field’ and has a passion for renewable energy and carbon reduction. Any spare time is spent with his family enjoying sailing and kayaking. He received his 5 years service award in 2022. Mark received the Chief Scout’s Commendation Award in 2024.

Kelly Stephenson
Cub Scout Team Member

Joined to assist the Scout section in March 2022. Kelly has helped out in Beaver and Scout sections. Since September 2025 Kelly has helped out with Lifton Cubs.

Laura Cooper
Cub Scout Lead Volunteer

Joined the Scout Group in January 2022 as Cub Section Assistant. Then took on role of Cub Leader to support the launch of our Liftondown Cub Pack in 2024.

Lisa Elia
Cub Scout Team Member

Joined the Scout Group Executive in May 2022 as a parent representative. Took on role of Assistant Cub Leader to support the launch of our Liftondown Cub Pack in 2024.

Debbie Rockell
Cub Scout Team Member

Debbie volunteered to help with the Liftondown Beaver Colony in 2021. Since 2024 she has  helped out with the Liftondown Cub Pack.

Darren Faulkner
Scout Lead Volunteer

Darren joined the 1st Lifton Scout Group in January 2022. Darren has many years of camping  experience and an interest in many outdoor activities.

Adam Shickle
Scout Team Member

Starting out as an Explorer Scout Leader in Durham. Adam moved to Devon and took on the role of Assistant Scout Leader in 2020. Adam received his King’s Scout Award in 2023 and his 5 years service award. Adam enjoys camping, climbing and watersports.

Group Trustee Board

Rob Wiggins
Chair of Trustees

Rob became a Wolf Cub in 1952, leaping up to Ajax Sea Scouts in 1955. Then in 1957 with a family move to Dublin, joining 3rd Port of Dublin Sea Scouts.

Rob became the Scoutmaster of 6th Port before moving back to London in 1966. Rob met Baden Powell’s wife, Lady Olave BP at the International Scout & Guide Club’s Christmas party in BP House, Kensington. 

Rob became an Assistant Leader with Ajax until he was married in 1970. Rob then took a 15 year break until his children became members of 1st Tavistock Scout Group. Then his employer suggested he should be involved with Scouts. Rob’s old Scout Leader agreed he should take up a leadership role again. Rob has been involved in West Devon Scout District,  with various roles over the past forty years.

Beccy joined as a Group Trustee in January 2024, taking on the role of Group Treasurer.

Laura Cooper
Trustee

Joined the Scout Group in January 2022 as Cub Section Assistant. Then took on role of Cub Leader to support the launch of our Liftondown Cub Pack in 2024.

Ray Moulds
Trustee
Ray moved to Lifton in 2020 and joined our as a Group Trustee in Spring 2022.
Ray grew up in York and was a Cub and Scout himself in the Lord Mayor’s Own Scout group which met just behind Bootham Terrace in York.
He works for Tavistock based Flood Control International
and is often travelling around the UK visiting sites that have been flooded or are at flood risk.
Since moving to Devon, Ray and his family are enjoying visiting the many beautiful places we have on our doorstep. Awarded his 5 year service awarded in 2025.
Natasha Hulme

Matt Pilsbury
Trustee

Matt is a parent and  joined the trustee board in 2025.
