Sleeping with Sharks 2023
Fourteen of our Beaver Scouts enjoyed the West Devon District sleepover at Plymouth National Marine Aquarium this October. Once again, the Beavers were treated to a guided tour of the aquarium during the evening, where they learnt about the Great Barrier Reef environment. Then we found out about the ecosystem of Plymouth Sound and some fun facts about some ‘gross’ behaviour of some creatures of the oceans. We had fun learning which creature has three hearts, which creature has five eyes and which creature doesn’t ‘age’ as we do. Then we learnt fun facts about sharks, before we settled into our sleeping bags within sight of the enormous fish tank. Well done to all the Beavers from across the District, all were very well behaved and a real credit to the Scout movement. This is an annual event organised by Nicki Allott our Assistant District Commissioner, so we look forward to the next opportunity for our Beavers to sleep with the sharks!
